THREE OF CHANGE DESIGNS MAIN TITLE SEQUENCE GRAPHICS AND ANIMATION FOR SMITHSONIAN CHANNEL’S UNITED STATES OF DRINKING

“What a civilization imbibes can reveal a lot about who they are and the world that they live in. Those who built the pyramids preferred beer, and ancient Rome loved its wine, but what's the preferred alcoholic beverage in the US and what does it say about America? Join food writer Josh Ozersky on an illuminating journey as he makes moonshine, meets a microbrewery's chemist, visits an award-winning vineyard and samples the infinite possibilities of the cocktail bar, all in the name of science.”

Main title sequence, show package, cartography, in-show graphics designed and animated by THREE OF CHANGE.

Host Josh Ozersky won the James Beard Award for food writing and is the author of The Hamburger: A History. He is currently an editor at Esquire Magazine. Ozersky has appeared on the TV series ANTHONY BOURDAIN: NO RESERVATIONS and Iron Chef America, and is the founder of the annual meat-themed culinary festival "Meatopia."

THE UNITED STATES OF DRINKING is produced by Smithsonian Channel. David Royle, Charles Poe and Tim Evans serve as executive producers for the Channel. 19 museums. 9 international research centers. 168 million artifacts. One channel. Infinite stories.

“Joyful, bright, upbeat and informative!” Broadcast Design & Animation.

Baby’s First Test is a resource dedicated to educating parents, family members, health professionals, industry representatives, and other members of the public about the newborn screening system.

In 2008, the US Congress passed the Newborn Screening Saves Lives Act to address the acute need for both enhanced support for state newborn screening programs as well as expanded research and education opportunities. The legislation called for the establishment of an online clearinghouse of newborn screening information as a central component to achieving these goals. It is this legislation that provided the foundation for BabysFirstTest.org. Grant funding provided by the Health Resource and Service Administration (HRSA). www.babysfirsttest.org, Genetic Alliance.

Three of Change Celebrates a 5th Anniversary

Three of Change Celebrates a 5th Anniversary

Bethesda, MD - August 2014 Three of Change celebrates its five year anniversary this month. Three of Change began as a broadcast design and animation studio visually communicating brands, product benefits and helping companies with on-air advertising and promotion. Now Three of Change has expanded its range of services to include behavioral marketing, branding, experiential engagement and consulting work as requested.

"It seems like yesterday I was working at my dining room table," said Jesse Gordon, Founder and President. "Now we're in our offices on Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Bethesda and from there we're doing work all over the country. Maintaining solid relationships with clients and getting referrals has been one of the most satisfying parts of our growth and consistency."

The agency currently works with over 20 clients, including PBS, Vocus, Field School, Leverage Marketing Group, Discovery Communications, CityGate Films, Cycle Technologies, USAID & Feed the Future, Half Yard Productions, Legacy Foundation, National Geographic, and PCIA - The Wireless Infrastructure Association.

Some of the agency's recent milestones include:
  • Promax BDALocal Award
  • Main Title Sequence and Graphic Design produced by Three of Change for the Peabody Award winning series, 180 Days.
“Honesty and artistic excellence have contributed to our success,” said Jesse Gordon. "Being able to bring vision to a project and then make that vision a reality is one of our core competencies.”

Said Gordon: “The past five years have been fun, challenging, inspiring and exciting. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for the Three of Change team. In honor of its five year milestone, I would like to say thank you.”

180 Days A Year Inside An American High School Receives a Peabody Award

The 73rd Annual Peabody Awards were held in New York City at the Waldorf Astoria on May 19. Ira Glass was as charming and engaging as always as the event’s emcee, presenting awards to media makers who travelled from as far as Pakistan and the Philippines to participate in the festivities. Main Title Sequence and Graphic Design produced by Three of Change.

Since 1940 the Peabody award has steadily grown from being the “Pulitzer Prize for Radio” to recognizing excellence in a wide range of electronic media. In 1948 the Peabody Awards began recognizing television programs, and eventually cable TV was included beginning in 1981. By 2003, the first website had been included in the list of winners and 2012 saw the first Peabody Award given to a blog. From the first radio broadcast, electronic media has been constantly evolving. As the possibilities for storytelling multiply, the Peabody Awards will continue to draw attention to stories that matter in electronic media. We look toward the new forms of storytelling that will arise as we move deeper into the digital age.

Washington Metropolitan, aka DC Met, has all the problems a modern American high school can have: truancy, teen pregnancy, homelessness, violent crime. Getting in the front door is like going through airport security. Ninety-seven percent of the kids are classified as “economically disadvantaged.” Fewer than half are reading or doing math at grade level. Yet 180 Days, chronicling a year in the life of this inner-city school, is actually an encouraging documentary. Its optimism, far from blind, starts with DC Met’s savvy, upbeat principal, Tanishia Williams Minor, and extends through her faculty, both pragmatic veterans and anxious upstarts, and some representative students who truly want a better future. Filmmaker Jacquie Jones and her cohorts not only show us the personal challenges at DC Met, they document the real, serious effort being made. And they put it all into the context of funding uncertainties, the expectations of the DC school system, and the rigorous standards imposed by the Obama administration’s “Race to the Top” reforms. For its intimate, hopeful portrait of an inner-city school under the gun in more ways than one, 180 Days: A Year Inside an American High School receives a Peabody Award.

The Field School, Field Forward Capital Campaign

Three of Change has been engaged to design and develop an interactive giving website for The Field School, one of Washington, D.C.’s premiere prepatory schools.

“In 2014, The Field School stands at a crossroads: fully enrolled and with increasing demand; established on a beautiful campus but in need of a center for school culture; an acclaimed program of innovative, serious education seeking its fullest expression.

The Field Forward Capital Campaign has been remarkably successful so far. Our incredibly generous early donors—alumni, parents, alumni parents, teachers & staff, and friends—made it possible for us to complete the new Bridge Building and the Sapere addition in record time, between March and September of 2013. As a result, Field now serves almost 40 more families than it could just a year ago.”

The Field School is in phase 2 of expansion constructing The Elizabeth Meeting House. “We’d like a to build a fun and interactive website that encourages alumni, alumni parents, and others to give to The Field Forward Capital Campaign to fund this project.
